In this powerful article, I share my personal account of experiencing unjust racial profiling during a traffic stop by the California Highway Patrol. I recount how I navigated the legal process and emerged victorious by presenting a declaration by trial, serving as an empowering example for individuals of color. Through composure, determination, and knowledge of the legal system, I stood up for my rights and defeated the unjust traffic ticket. This story is dedicated to my children and serves as a reminder of the importance of resilience and advocating for justice in the face of discrimination.
In this account, I delve into the disheartening and concerning aspects of my ordeal that extend beyond my initial complaint lodged with the local California Highway Patrol office. The severity of the situation compelled the complaint to be escalated to the “Border Division” and eventually to the California Highway Patrol headquarters for an internal investigation. Despite the unmistakable racial discrimination my family and I endured, it is deeply unsettling that the entire California Highway Patrol failed to demonstrate sound judgment in addressing this matter.
Furthermore, I shed light on the disheartening reality that despite filing a complaint with the California Highway Patrol, their internally conducted investigation overlooked any wrongdoing. However, the tides shifted when a competent and impartial judge meticulously examined the declaration I submitted, bringing to light the evident misconduct.
An important note: Record footage when possible, avoid phone calls due to lack of evidence/paper trails, and if possible, conduct ALL communcation via paper.
